From school year 2011-12 onwards, the two week October break will take place in the second and third weeks of that month.  This means that, for session 2011-12 , the October holiday will take place from Monday 10 October to Friday 21 October 2011, both dates inclusive.

Our sponsored Big Walk takes place on Friday 11th June.  It is hoped all pupils will manage to attend.  If you have lost your child's sponsor form, you can download another copy by clicking here.  The Parent Council has set up a "JustGiving page" at www.justgiving.com/easternprimaryparentcouncil to help collect sponsorship and so that you can appeal to friends and family far and wide.

Primary 3

Last week the P3s visited the McManus art gallery. They saw skeletons and other artefacts from years ago.  Also they made creative stones in the art gallery.

Trip to the Museum!

Next Wednesday (26 May) the P3's are going on a school trip to the newly re-opened McManus Galleries in the centre of Dundee.

They are going there to learn more about their history topic "The Picts" who lived 1500 years ago in Scotland.  We hope they really enjoy it!

Welcome back!

It's a new term and everyone will be learning brand new topics for the rest of the term.

Primary 3's new history topic is about the Picts (Scottish people who lived 1500 years ago).

The P3's have been given their parts for the Easter Church service. The title of this year's service is "Easter Praise". 

Their preparation is coming along very nicely.  Also, Mrs Collins will be going to the Church Service as well.

Eastern Primary School is one of the only schools in Dundee to have over two hours of gym a week. So we have interviewed some of the primary threes and here are their thoughts.

Lauren and Gemma - "The primary 3's like playing with the apparatus and playing sports like hockey, football and basketball. We like circuit tracks and gym is one of our favourite school subjects. We like playing on the astroturf outside when it's nice and sunny".

The Primary 3's have learning about the moon, the stars and the sun and about plants and living creatures.  Also on the 30th of March the primary three's are holding the Easter church service and entertaining the school and friends and family of Eastern Primary School.

Burn's Poem

The Primary Threes have been learning their Scottish poem "The Circus". The finalists are Matthew and Kristin but a great thanks to all the participants!

The Primary Three's have just had their first art lesson with our Art Specialist called Mrs Gordon. They were using straight lines to make technicolor pictures and can't wait for their next lesson.

           P3's Katie Morag pictures

Welcome to 2010!

P3 have been learning how to read maps as part as their new topic.  Their other topic is based on the books "Katie Morag, my Place in Scotland" by Mairi Hedderwick where a small girl named Katie has many adventures on the Isle of Struay.

P3 have been learning about all of the moon phases.   There are 8 moon phases, new moon, crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous,  full moon, waning gibbous,  last quarter and crescent.

P4/3 Latest Achievements

P4/3 are still working on their Viking topic and are very excited about it.
 
They have been making very detailed and very good clay long ships and Viking soldier heads for their art/Viking topic.

Also they have been writing in the Viking language Runes. They have began using the Runes to make their names.

On the 23rd of October they are going to see a film called Butterflies in the DCA and on the 30th they are going to a wax science fair.

This week they have been drawing pictures of the farmers from the Fantastic Mr Fox book and are writing a bit about them and reading it to the P1's.

Primary P4/3  have also been watching clips of the Jungle Book and have been writing little stories.

What a busy class!!

Sun, Moon and Stars topic ...

P3 have started a new topic. It is called sun, moon and stars. They are learning about moon phases, day and night, the seasons, moon explorations and constellations. 


P3 have also been studying on Allen Ahlberg, who is an author who wrote "Burglar Bill", during Dundee Reads.
