From school year 2011-12 onwards, the two week October break will take place in the second and third weeks of that month.  This means that, for session 2011-12 , the October holiday will take place from Monday 10 October to Friday 21 October 2011, both dates inclusive.

Our sponsored Big Walk takes place on Friday 11th June.  It is hoped all pupils will manage to attend.  If you have lost your child's sponsor form, you can download another copy by clicking here.  The Parent Council has set up a "JustGiving page" at www.justgiving.com/easternprimaryparentcouncil to help collect sponsorship and so that you can appeal to friends and family far and wide.

Primary 6

P6A Book Awards

On the 8th of June P6A will be going to the Whitehall Theatre to the book awards ceremony.  Over the last couple of weeks the class has been reading a total of 4 picture books to the P1's .Now the P1's and 6's have voted for their favourite book and the winning book will be announced at the awards.

Art Topic

This term, Primary 6A are going to be studying the famous artwork of Andy Warhol.  One of his most well known paintings, Eight Elvises, famously fetched a sum of around 100 MILLION U.S. DOLLARS in 2009.  They will be attempting many of his best artworks throughout this term, including paintings and drawings.  We will hopefully be back soon with some of Primary sixes marvellous attempts to recreate the work of Andy Warhol.

This term, the primary 6's new topic is going to be all about the Rainforest.  They will be learning about how the destruction of the rainforest affects different animals and their habitats such as orangutans.  They will also be learning about the people who live near the rainforest and have been forced to move away to make more room for crops.

The P6's have been busy making Union Jack flags for the school show next Thursday and Friday.  The P6's have also been rehearsing the show with the P7s and have been fairly well.

One of the classes made clay penguins for their topic on Antartica.

P6B have been making Chinese Dragons for Chinese New Year and both P6 classes have been learning the songs for the school show.

The P6's have been busy learning their Burns poem and they have a winner!  Congratulations to John.  He recited "On Scaring Some Water Foul in Loch Turret".

P6A have a new teacher for a month. He is from Paris, France and is called Mr Lemart. They have a new topic about Antarctica which they are really enjoying and also they have been doing well in German. They have made a chart in German and put their names on the chart with months of the year in to show their birthdays.

P6B have been drawing icebergs in art for their topic about Antarctica.

The best thing to have happened recently to P6 was when they appeared on television taking part in a gym lesson.  The news article was about PE in schools.

P6 Celebrities!

P6B have been on the BBC news for an article about PE in schools recently!  Did anyone see them??

P6 News

We are happy to inform you that the P6's managed to fill and wrap 80 shoe boxes for poorer countries.  The P6's made models for homework out of junk from home. They made lots of interesting creations like gift bags, pencil holders and lots lots more.

Happy New Year P6!

P6's are going to start swimming lessons at the Olympia Centre on a Thursday afternoon up until Easter. The children are all looking forward to perfecting their swimming technique!

Both P6 classes have a new student.  The P6b student is called Mrs Gow and the P6a's student is called Mrs Hill.  

They have been busy making models for homework out of junk from home.  They made lots of interesting creations like gift bags, pencil holders and lots lots more.

Shoe Box Appeal

P6 have been really busy with the shoe box appeal ...

New term news ...

Daniel P6A and Matthew P6B visited Baluniefield police training centre as the new JRSO officers on Wednesday 16th October.  They received lots of goodies including prizes for competitions. Also the p6's went to the Dundee College which is on Strathern Road, for cycle training. 

The P6's this year in Art are going to be painting in the style of Monet. The new Library Assistants were trained recently.  There are a total of 35 library assistants in both P6 classes.

Over the next few weeks, the P6's are starting the Shoe box appeal that happens every year in Eastern P.S. This year P6's are going to be filling shoe boxes for one of the poorer countries in Europe. The charity is called Blytheswood Trust.  The P6's are asking for a £2 donation for travel costs.

Welcome to the P6's web page.The teachers for this year are Mrs McDonald and Mrs Arcari.  This year's topics for both classes are Europe and we hope they enjoy it.

Mrs McDonald's class is going to be learning German this year as their new language and Mrs Arcari's class is learning French.

Both classes are going to be learning about bike safety at Dundee college.  The P6a's next trip is to the Discovery Point on the twenty-ninth of October.   

The web team reps for the year are Aidan and James.
