Inspection Update

1st May 2018

Inspectors were in on Monday and left on Wednesday last week. Once again, they made thorough checks on the school and its progress. They looked at paperwork, procedures, policies, plans, governors, teaching, pupil books, pupils behaviour, standards, progress, leadership including the headteacher and governors, the local authority support .... absolutely everything! No stone was left unturned. On this occasion they looked at 5 of the recommendations - leadership, monitoring, Welsh, planning for teaching & learning, reading and writing. We are delighted to say that they were pleased with what they saw. In each of the areas there is huge amounts of progress. The report that will be published in a few weeks time will be available for you all as usual. We have nothing to hide and we will be proud to share it with you. It is a long report and we will summarise it as best we can in the newsletter.

There is a lot of good practice here at Eastern now, and we are looking forward to the day that we can share it with other schools. We have already been asked to share our practice but we are reluctant to do so until we are out of special measures, and we believe we are just a whisker away! Very exciting times and looking forward to the next visit!
